We will cross the highest snow-capped peak of the Vilcabamba mountain range until we reach Llactapata, located behind the Machu Picchu mountain. Finally, we will head to Aguas Calientes, located at the foot of the Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu.

    • Both mountains are quite high but have very different characteristics. Huayna Picchu reaches 2,720 m / 8,924 ft, but it involves an almost vertical ascent with much more extreme and narrow trails. On the other hand, Machu Picchu Mountain reaches 3,000 m / 9,843 ft, almost 650 meters above the citadel. The path to the summit of this mountain is more demanding than Huayna Picchu, has a wider trail, and can be done by anyone. However, care must be taken regarding altitude sickness and weather conditions.

  • Option: If you feel tired after the hike on Day 3, you have the option to take a train from Hidroeléctrica to Aguas Calientes.
